Description
The job of Athletic Director (Middle School) is done for the purpose/s of directing the coaching staff, representing the school athletic program, and ensuring that there is an administrator present at every athletic event where the school is designated as the HOME team, whether it is at the home campus or at another campus. The Athletic Director (Middle School) works closely with and reports to the school principal.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to the principal of the middle school and serves as a liaison between staff members and administration.
- Develops and monitors the department budget and approves departmental purchases and athletic schedules.
- Reviews staff requests and makes related recommendations to the administration.
- Assists staff members in professional matters as requested or as the need for such assistance is observed.
- Insures that the equipment is properly inventoried and maintained.
- Responsible for the administering all interscholastic policies and procedures working within the confines of the SUSD Middle School Athletic Handbook.
- Observes coaches sufficiently in order to make future recommendations in terms of job expectations and make recommendations to school principal as to coaches’ job assignment.
- Responsible for evaluating all new coaching candidates for jobs and will be a member of each selection committee.
- Responsible for all recommendations to the principal for improvement of facilities.
- Coordinates with Plant Manager for repair and maintenance of athletic fields, track and gymnasium.
- Resolves conflicts that develop within athletic department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Job related experience.
- Fingerprint clearance card.
- Criminal background investigation.
