Description
This position's responsibilities are to assist the District Executive Director of Athletics, coordinate middle school athletic programs and act as a liaison between schools, the Athletic Office, WIAA and the sports leagues. This position works with school staff to ensure coordination of schedules, events and all related athletic activities.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the SPS Middle School Athletic Program.
- Serves as a resource for schools and school staff involved in coordinating and working athletic events, games and other related activities.
- Acts as an agent of the District with the various sports leagues and their representatives.
- Assists with the planning and coordination of interschool athletic program events in various sports leagues (manages Metro and District Track, Basketball and Football) and outside districts.
- Determines scheduling formats, overseeing and scheduling events, coordinating outside agencies, recruiting officials and overseeing arrangements for facilities and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience working with or managing athletic programs; five (5) years of experience working with or managing athletic programs in an urban educational setting preferred;
- Bachelor's Degree in Athletic, Recreational Administration, Sports Management, Education or a related field;
- Masters in Sports and Health Sciences or M.Ed. in Educational Leadership preferred; or an equivalent of education and experience.
