Description
Under general supervision the Head Women’s volleyball Coach is responsible for developing a best-in-class women’s volleyball program that represents the institution's and athletic department’s mission and values. The head coach will lead, teach, recruit, and graduate a diverse group of high character women who embody respect, sportsmanship, service, hard work, and determination.
Duties:
- Contributes to the educational mission of the University by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in the area of women’s volleyball training and competition;
- Recruits high character student-athletes for the women’s volleyball program;
- Instructs methods and strategies to effectively coach student-athletes in the sport;
- Makes recommendations for scholarships;
- Schedules practices and games;
- Coordinates all hotel reservations and meals for travel;
- Communicates competition schedule with administrative assistant for bus transportation reservations;
- Transports and supervises players while on the road;
- Trains and supervises assistant coach(es);
- Participates and engages in campus events, organizations, and committees as assigned;
- Monitors specific sport budget to ensure fiscal responsibility;
- Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, and the ECC; understanding that a coach can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field is required or high school diploma with a high level amateur or professional playing and/or coaching experience.
- At least three years of experience coaching women’s volleyball at the college or higher competitive level or at least five years of experience playing women’s volleyball at the college level or higher accompanied with varied levels of coaching experience.
