A unique and rare opportunity to be part of a world-class professional elite training group, working within the current sports science and medical team to contribute to the group's ambition to win Olympic and World track and field global medals.
To be an integral part of a progressive professional elite track and field training group specifically providing world-leading physical therapy based support during training and international competition. Work with the head coach, assistant coaches and other sport science support staff to improve performance through implementing, evaluating and developing the delivery of world-leading physiotherapy interventions to drive performance and mitigate the risk of injury.
Contribute to the bespoke development and delivery of daily athlete therapy strategies in elite track and field athletes to optimise performance.
Using a performance backwards approach, to proactively deliver, coordinate and manage the physiotherapy services to all professional athletes within the training group.
WHAT WE NEED
The candidate will be someone who can develop relationships quickly and integrate effectively into a wider support team during a critical time of the Olympic cycle. He/she should have a proven track record in supporting elite athletes and coaches to optimise performance and have the ability to build athlete confidence via appropriate therapeutic interventions that make impactful contributions to optimise the daily training programme.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Manage the daily athlete assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all members of the athlete training group
To respond pro-actively to the specific daily requirements and needs of the head coach in the delivery of the training programme to each athlete
To provide effective objective assessment and treatment of all athletes, in conjunction with other support members of staff to contribute to the most effective training programme
Working in a collaborative manner with all support members of the team, notably under the direction of the head coach, to ensure the best methods and complete integration of therapy and recovery modalities are optimised to enhance athlete training
Maintain accurate and up to date medical records for all registered athletes within the group
Post-Graduate qualification in Sport & Exercise Medicine, Sports Physiotherapy or Sports Rehabilitation
Knowledge and understanding of human movement
Experience in managing and coordinating elite athlete training groups
At least 5 years of experience working as a physiotherapist in an elite sport environment and experience in working in an interdisciplinary sports science and medical team across Olympic or professional sport
Knowledge and experience in delivering and planning effective methods of mitigating injury risk and aiding performance enhancement strategies in elite athletes
The role will require extensive international travel for specific training camps in preparation for and including all major tournaments, notably Olympic and World Championships
Up to date AREA qualification.
Sports Massage / Soft tissue therapy
Working towards an MSc.
Good knowledge and experience of multiple manual therapy skills
Up to date knowledge in recovery strategies and modalities
The desire for self-improvement and continuous professional development
Interest in contributing to current performance research projects
A willingness to be open-minded, to listen to others, contribute effectively and demonstrate a deep understanding of what is required to perform at the very elite level
