Description
Qualifications:
- Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community.
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching that sport, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning.
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work.
- High school or collegiate playing experience.
- Experience working with middle and high school-aged students.
- A positive student-centered approach to coaching.
- Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge pertinent to the assigned sport.
- CPR and first aid certified or the ability to become certified.
- Strong affinity for the mission of Upper Darby School District and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values.
Essential Functions:
- Successful candidates will have knowledge of the sport and will demonstrate effective coaching technique, leadership and mentoring skills; the ability to relate well within the school community; and the desire to provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and high standards.

- The Coach will be required to perform other duties requested by the Director of Athletics and/or school administrator.
- Observe the rules of the PIAA, PIAA District 1, and the Central Athletic League (CAL).
- Provide leadership and general team management in the areas of daily practice, skills, and character development.
- Remain current with theories and techniques in their sport.
- Attend all coaches' meetings and collaborate with assistant coach(es) and student manager.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletic administrators, students, parent body, and the community.
