Description
Qualifications:
- Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community.
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching that sport, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning.
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work.
- High school or collegiate playing experience.
Responsibilities:
- Remain current with theories and techniques in their sport.
- Attend all coaches' meetings and collaborate with assistant coach(es) and student manager.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletic administrators, students, parent body, and the community.
- Evaluate and assess players' skills and select team rosters.
- Responsible for team equipment.
- Keep the scorebook current and available.
- Report areas of concern immediately to Athletic Directors - fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc.
- Initiate appropriate and regular communication with student-athletes and parents.
- Follow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, meals.
- Report and follow up with athletic trainer about injuries.
- Write and submit individual comments on each student as scheduled.
