Director, Athletics Academic Advising

The Director, Athletic Academic Advising for the Hartley Academic Resource Center (HARC) provides strategic leadership, short- and long-term planning for the academic advising unit and supports campus-wide planning and initiatives related to student-athlete advising.

Typical Duties:

• Provides guidance in academic and personal development in a collaborative and mentoring environment.
• Translates strategic and tactical business plans into operational plans. Fosters interaction between advisors and students in a supportive atmosphere where students will achieve self-sufficiency while implementing their educational goals to reach degree completion.
• Establishes the direction, goals, and implementation strategy, and policies of the unit. Partners with Department/Unit to advocate for student-athlete needs related to enrollment management and degree progression.
• Develops short and long-term goals for the Hartley Academic Resource Center.
• Designs and implements plans to assist student-athletes in enhancing their skills and maintaining successful advancement toward their degree program.
• Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
• Manages academic advising staff to include recruitment, assignment of duties, performance evaluation, and training.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education & Student Affairs, Counselor Education, Psychology, or closely related field.
• Ten years of professional full-time experience working in an academic advising environment.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
