Description
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Secondary Schools, the Director of Athletics and Activities provides system-wide leadership and management of high school athletics and middle and high school extracurricular and co-curricular programs. This position is responsible for ensuring programs are inclusive, equitable, and aligned with state and local policies and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Administration and Supervision, Athletic Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) or will hold CAA designation by July 1, 2025.
- Five years of supervisory experience in athletic administration, school administration, or a related role to include oversight of interscholastic athletic programs and student activities.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and oversight for high school athletics and secondary extracurricular/co-curricular programs.
- Collaborate with school administrators and the Directors of High School and Middle School to support program implementation and alignment.
- Manage staffing processes, including hiring, training, and mentoring of coaches and activities managers.
- Coordinate logistics for events, transportation, facilities, and scheduling of athletic and activity programs.
- Ensure compliance with HCPSS policies, COMAR, Title IX, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
- Develop, monitor, and manage budgets for athletics and activities programs.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to promote equity, access, and student engagement, and represent HCPSS in local and state associations.
