Description
Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics, the Director of Athletic Facilities is responsible for ensuring athletic facilities and fields are properly maintained and available for use by student athletes and the campus community. The Director manages custodial and grounds staff performance to ensure facilities meet standards for play and recreational use, and that cleanliness of Athletic Facilities is consistent with University Facilities’ standards for each site.
Essential Functions:

Supervises athletic custodians and grounds workers ensuring that staff keep athletic facilities clean, safe, and operating properly. Assigns duties and sets expectations for execution of duties and standards of cleanliness for the athletic facilities team. Arranges support for time off and staffing fluctuations.

Aquatics Facility Operator certified or ability to become certified within six months after date of hire. Coordinates Natatorium custodial duties. Orders pool maintenance chemicals, supplies, and service, as necessary. Coordinates training opportunities for athletics staff to gain certification for aquatics facilities operation and communicates with swimming coaching staff about Natatorium maintenance requirements impacting facilities usage.

Coordinates and collaborates with University Facilities to enhance and maintain consistent best and practices for maintenance and cleanliness across all university facilities. Manages athletics facilities staff and performance to ensure levels of cleanliness consistent with University Facilities’ standards for each site.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years’ supervisory experience or a combination of education and experience from which a similar skillset would be achieved.

Previous supervisory experience required. Strong communication skills and ability to communicate feedback effectively to employees.

5 years of facilities maintenance and operations management and/or grounds experience required, or combination of experience and education from which a similar skillset is obtained. Athletic field care and maintenance is preferred.

Ability to implement safe work practices. Must be willing to receive additional training as required.

Ability to work independently with a diverse constituency including faculty, students and staff.

Ability to use computers to manage scheduling and employee communications, and to use basic applications.
