Description
The Director of Athletics reports to the Vice President for Campus Life and is responsible for the leadership and management of the Department of Athletics, setting the vision and philosophy of the program. The Director gives great attention to the care, support and eligibility of student athletes and supervision of their coaches and support staff.
Duties:
- Evaluates potential NCAA rule violations and notifies the Vice President for Campus LIfe and President of any violations.
- Declare student-athletes who violate NCAA rules ineligible.
- Generate and promote NCAA legislative proposals.
- Provides a letter addressing NCAA rules to National Letter of Intent signees once given access to the NLI system upon full, active Division II membership.
- Supervise grant-in-aid distribution for all sports.
- Supervise process of initial and annual renewal/non-renewal of athletic grants in-aid.
- Creates an environment that prioritizes sportsmanship and civility.
- Establishes departmental goals that are aligned with the DII Strategic Positioning Platform including the role athletics can play in strengthening the bond between the institution and the community.
- Is one of five individuals authorized to make contact with the NCAA academic and membership affairs staff as outlined in NCAA Constitution 5.4.1.2.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Commitment to the Christian mission, vision, and values of the University.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in intercollegiate athletics administration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, management, budgetary, and leadership skills.
- Proven commitment to athletic and academic success.
- Proven commitment to the personal and spiritual growth of student-athletes.
