Description
The Director of Athletics (AD) leads the strategic direction and administration of the university’s NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic program, including nineteen intercollegiate sports. The AD also ensures that the administration and supervision of the program are consistent with the university’s mission and requirements of the GLIAC conference and NCAA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee compliance with all relevant institutional, GLIAC conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, including player eligibility, recruiting efforts, financial aid, practice schedules, etc.
- Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance.
- Ensure departmental compliance with Title IX, gender equity, and diversity regulations and standards, while also creating an environment that is supportive of these institutional priorities.
- Collaborate with the Office of Development to develop and conduct effective fund-raising strategies for the athletic program.
- Deliver highly competitive, nationally relevant sports programs.
- Serve on committees that are vitally important to the University’s athletic programs on-campus, at the GLIAC conference, and NCAA levels.
- Prepare and manage all budgets related to intercollegiate athletics.
- Supervise and evaluate coaches and related staff.
- Oversee departmental organization, personnel, policies, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Seven years of senior-level management experience in intercollegiate athletic programs or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA and conference compliance rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to project a positive and professional image in an intercollegiate athletic environment, within the University and the regional community.
- Skills, abilities, and knowledge relating to the regulatory environment with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively communicating with internal and external constituents.
- Evidence of high ethical standards as well as personal and professional integrity.
