Description
This position is the Athletics Director for Georgia Highlands College (GHC), a multi-site institution of the University System of Georgia (USG). Reporting to the President of the college, primary duties include the oversight, guidance, and supervision for all aspects of the athletic sports programs and facilities. The position develops a collaborative productive partnership between the Athletics Department and other college departments and enhances the public perception of the College and Chargers Athletics.
Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership for fundraising associated with the athletics department. Coordinates fundraising goals and initiatives and corporate sponsorships with the Office of Advancement. Markets athletics program and events across all GHC sites and to the community.
- Develops and implements programs to increase revenue sources that includes effective plans for marketing and promotions as well as fundraising and alumni relations engagements.
- Develops, initiates, and monitors plans, policies, procedures, and programs compliant with the College, state and federal law, and applicable athletic association(s).
- Manages all aspects of planning, supervision, staffing, delivery, and evaluation of the intercollegiate athletics program, ensuring compliance with league rules.
- Develops budget guidelines, approves budget appropriations, and monitors conformance to budget for the Athletics Department including supervision of funds used or collected by the department.
- Provides leadership in developing plans for facility improvements to meet the needs of the athletics program.
- Provides leadership, direction, and guidance to staff and student athletes.
- Establishes a comprehensive recruitment strategy and coordinates a development program for student athletes.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and level of competency associated with the completion of a baccalaureate in Physical Education, Sport Administration, Sport Management, or in a course of study closely related to the occupational field.
- Experience sufficient to execute the major duties of the position, usually associated with three (3) to five (5) years of experience as an athletic director on the National Collegiate Athletes Association (NCAA) level.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
