Position will provide detailed financial analysis and forecasting for the department. Work with the various programs and units to collect and report data for budget projections, and written explanations of monthly budget variances. Will meet as needed to discuss and advise budget managers. Will assist in data collection for the preparation of financial statements and interpret data used for financial decisions. Must be able to assess the validity, integrity, and accuracy of financial data. Will assist with the annual external audit. Serve as supervisor for Accounting Technicians (3) and Administrative Support Specialist (1). Review their work and assist in problem solving as needed. Approves security access and compensating control report for payroll. Prepare the annual Federal Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act and NCAA Financial reports. Will prepare other reports as requested by the media, department, University, and the State of North Carolina.
Bachelor degree in a closely related field such as accounting, banking, finance, business and/or economics; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with a concentration in Accounting or equivalent. - Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, including financial reporting and analysis. - Understanding and experience in accounting methods and generally accepted accounting principles. - Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel (or similar software) and ability to develop and use functions for moderately complex spreadsheets. - Must be able to present data in clear and concise manner, and be effective at communicating orally and in writing technical financial data to audiences with varying backgrounds of financial knowledge.
