Description
The physical education teacher is responsible for all aspects of CBA’s PE and health curricula. In addition, s/he will oversee the athletics department and work in tandem with the school nurse in development of the family life curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate physical education lessons that meet the needs of neurodiverse learners.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes physical literacy, motor skill development, and positive social interaction.
- Use differentiated instruction strategies to accommodate various learning styles and sensory needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate PE into a holistic educational approach.
- Promote self-regulation, perseverance, and sportsmanship through physical activity.
- Oversee and manage all extracurricular sports programs, including scheduling practices, games, and events.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
- Ensure compliance with school policies.
- Serve as the liaison between the athletics department, administration, families, and community partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid teaching certification or licensure in Physical Education.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching or coaching, preferably with neurodiverse students.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
