Description
Reporting directly to the Athletic Director, this position is not only responsible for coaching/teaching the sport, but also coordinating and implementing all aspects of the program including: scouting, recruiting, budget management, practice planning, game preparation, scheduling, team travel, equipment/apparel purchasing, staff supervision, academic monitoring, and general supervision of student-athletes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide strategic direction, leadership and oversight of both the men’s and women’s Rugby programs at the University of Rio Grande
- Build a culture of excellence, innovation and learning that supports student athlete development throughout rugby at the University of Rio Grande and the community.
- Plan and supervise all correspondence between coaches, students, and parents in regard to potential visits by athletes to the University of Rio Grande.
- Coordinate and supervise any scheduled off-season events, programs, or camps.
- Prepare, manage and monitor programs budgets.
- Oversee scholarship distribution to student athletes.
- Oversee high school/college and international recruiting efforts.
- Schedule games for upcoming season (prepare contracts).
- Coaching/supervising daily practices.
- Organize team travel (vehicles/hotels/meals/practices).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education required.
- Coach must be registered and in good standing with National Collegiate Rugby Association.
