Description
Under the general direction of an assigned administrator, develop and maintain a comprehensive, effective, and competitive California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) and Southern California Football Association (SCFA) football program. Direct all football activities, schedule and coordinate football program and related events, oversee recruitment of student athletes, and cultivate productive relationships with District and College staff, outside agencies, organizations, students, and parents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as Head Coach for GCCCD Football Program.
- Assist with student-athlete academic retention and success. Manage the entire life cycle of football services and meet continual program improvement goals. Generate revenue for College and Athletics Department through athletics sports facilities management and rentals.
- Assume management responsibilities for all aspects of the football program as it relates to facilities, schedules, athlete eligibility, physical examinations, equipment, transportation, and insurance; assist with game supervision and management of home athletic contests.
- Recommend for hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and other staff associated with the program as assigned.
- Work with the assigned or appropriate administrator to develop short and long-range planning for student success, including student academic progress, matriculation, and degree completion and/or transfer; and for the success of the GCCCD Athletics program at the local and state levels.
- Ensure that all student-athlete recruiting goals are met. Oversee outreach and student-athlete recruitment for football program, including planning and coordinating student recruiting visits; develop, maintain, and coordinate recruiting database and notification system.
- Develop, allocate, and monitor the football program budget and ensure budgetary compliance; approve and direct the purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials connected with the football program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college of university with a major in kinesiology, physical education, education, or a related field plus three (3) years coaching experience at the collegiate level.
- The preferred candidate would also have athletic recruiting experience at the collegiate level; supervisory experience; fundraising experience at the collegiate level; and leadership experience reasonably related to a director level administrative assignment.
- Driver's License and the ability to be covered by District insurance.
