Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive program structure and long-term strategic plan for the track and field and cross-country teams.
- Establish and maintain a positive team culture that emphasizes academic excellence, sportsmanship, and personal development.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff and athletic department personnel to ensure the program's integration into the overall athletic department goals
- Identify and recruit talented student-athletes who demonstrate potential for success athletically and academically.
- Conduct evaluations and assessments of potential recruits, attending competitions, and maintaining communication with high school coaches and athletes.
- Provide individualized coaching, training plans, and performance analysis to enhance the skills and abilities of student-athletes.
- Monitor and support the academic progress and personal well-being of student-athletes to ensure their success on and off the field.
- Design and implement training programs that address the specific needs of individual athletes and the team as a whole.
- Plan and organize practices, conditioning sessions, and competitions to optimize performance and minimize injury risk.
- Provide technical instruction, skill development, and tactical strategies to improve athletes' performance in track and field and cross-country events.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Proven track record of successful coaching experience at the college, high school, or elite club level.
- In-depth knowledge of track and field and cross-country training techniques, strategies, and best practices.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate athletes and coaching staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with athletes, colleagues, and the broader athletic community.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit talented student-athletes and build strong relationships with high school coaches and athletes.
- Ability to act as a mature role model for young adults, addressing issues timely and effectively promoting the college and athletic experience.
