Description
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- At least five (5) years of successful experience as a secondary teacher, coach and/or administrator.
- Proper Department of Education certification as a Secondary Teacher, Administrator and/or Athletic Director.
- Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Department may find appropriate and acceptable.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the high school principal(s) to insure appropriateness of athletic experience with the overall curriculum.
- Administers all interscholastic policies and procedures working within the confines of the Rules and Regulations of the Taunton Public Schools and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.
- Organizes and administers the overall program of interscholastic athletics.
- Reviews and formally evaluates the performance of all coaches and other related staff in the interscholastic athletic program on an annual basis.
- Prepares and administers the interscholastic athletic budget, addressing the needs of all athletic programs and the maintenance of athletic facilities.
- Develops bid specifications, prepares requisitions and provides for storage and careful inventory of all items of interscholastic athletic supplies and equipment.
- Administers the Athletic Department Revolving Account and Student Athletic Fee Account.
