District Athletic Director – Certified

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
• Significant experience in coaching or organizational leadership.
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership position with adults.
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the coordination of the school district’s athletic program.
• Monitors the activities of students and staff to ensure the school’s compliance with regulations of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA).
• Provides for safety planning and consistent updates and awareness training on Emergency Action Plans (EAP’s) and safety protocols.
• Coordinates the interpretation of AHSAA rules with the entire coaching staff.
• Secures from coaches the appropriate student athletic eligibility forms and information to be sent to the AHSAA.
• Provides advice to the principals regarding fine points of the AHSAA regulations and makes recommendations for action as necessary.
• Provides overall coordination for the scheduling of the various athletic activities under the sponsorship of the VHCS.
• Provides in-service education opportunities for fellow coaches and one-to-one guidance as needed and conducts coaches’ meetings during the school year.
• Coordinates and/or organizes the various awards banquets and other recognition activities sponsored by the schools' athletic programs.
