Description
The District Wide Athletic Director is expected to provide leadership, collaboration, and coordination for all school athletic directors. This position shall promote a culture of outstanding sportsmanship, integrity and professionalism among all athletic staff and athletes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend all statewide athletic meetings sponsored by NCHSAA (NC High School Athletics Association).
- Conduct a minimum of five meetings per school year with high school athletic directors (AD). The school AD’s should be involved with establishing the agendas for these meetings.
- Conduct a minimum of two meetings per school year with middle school athletic directors. Middle school AD’s should be involved with establishing the agendas for these meetings.
- Conduct one joint meeting per school year with all Athletic Directors.
- Update the system wide athletic handbooks. Involve school AD’s in this process.
- Lead in developing a long-term athletic facility needs assessment for all schools. This should be a part of the system facilities plan.
- Recommend policy changes that need to be made on a yearly basis, or as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILS AND ABILITIES:
- Coaching experience.
- Excellent skills in planning, organization, and leadership.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of all district security measures pertaining to athletics.
- Knowledge about student confidentiality rights.
- Effectively welcome and embrace differences among employees and citizens.
