Description
The Assistant Coach is directly responsible to the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, and High School Principal. The Assistant Coach will work in close collaboration with the Head Coach and will assume assignments as directed by the Head Coach.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing avenues of communication with other adults to identify potential resources for the enhancement of CRLS athletics;
- Working with community members who are involved in youth sports in order to encourage the young women and young men to continue to participate in sports at the high school level;
- Developing an approach to coaching which encourages outreach to the parents of the athletes and to other adults who care about the athletes (booster clubs are one part of this outreach);
- Maintaining an atmosphere of balance between the academic and athletic experiences of students and closely following each student's academic progress;
- Working together with student/athletes, guidance counselors, and parents in the college application and selection process;
- Contacting college coaches and introducing CRLS athletes to coaches in accordance with NCAA regulations; and
- Identifying college scholarship opportunities for athletes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is preferred. Previous successful playing and/or coaching experience required.
- Current CPR/AED & First Aid Certification, Online Concussion Education Certification, Online Implicit Bias Education Certification, and fulfillment of the MIAA Coaches Education Requirements, and state requirements.
- In addition, completion of CORI Form, and fingerprinting background check is a must.
