Description
The Head Artistic Swimming Coach is responsible for developing and administering a highly competitive artistic swimming program; abiding by University and USA Artistic Swimming rules and regulations; and along with all other Athletics personnel, working towards achieving the objectives of Intercollegiate Athletics. Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develops and administers a highly competitive artistic swimming program.
- Oversees the artistic swimming roster management goals.
- Coaches the artistic swimming team with sound principles and expert skill and strategies to achieve success.
- Manages all aspects of the team including practices, equipment, facilities, travel, scheduling and competitions.
- Recruits and retains student-athletes who will be academically successful.
- Monitors and encourages student-athletes’ academic progress and success to ensure continuing eligibility to participate in competition and to graduate.
- Provides oversight for coordinating, monitoring, and implementing study hall.
- Directs and supervises support staff, such as an assistant coach, a graduate assistant, volunteer assistants, and student assistants, when applicable.
- Coordinates music composition, choreography and routine construction.
- Communicates and works directly with the sports medicine and sports performance staff in the execution of a scientific-based, sports-specific strength and conditioning program and overall student-athlete medical care, abiding by the decisions of the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine and/or the designated Health Care Administrator.
- Monitors, inspects and ensures equipment is maintained to protect the safety of student-athletes and University staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use is preferred at the time of hire and will be required prior to participation in any athletically related activities.
- Current USA Artistic Swimming Coaching Certificate Program (CCP) Level 1 required.
- Current SafeSport certification required. Current USA Artistic Swimming membership required.
- Lifeguard certification or water safety instructor certification required.
- Valid driver’s license and certification as an authorized TWU driver in order to drive on university-related business.
