Description
The primary role of this position is to provide teaching, coaching and technical expertise needed to allow the student-athlete to compete at their highest competitive potential. Additionally, it is also a primary responsibility of the incumbent to be cognitive to all coaching and/or teaching duties associated with the program. This is to include but not be limited to the oversight and management of the safety and well-being of those student-athletes assigned to their coaching care.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize sound teaching techniques in the conduct of game preparation and practice sessions;
- Coordinates and organizes workouts;
- Assist in making strategic decisions in contest situations;
- Assist the Associate Head Coach in preparing and organizing pre-season, in-season, and post-season conditioning programs and practice sessions;
- Oversee the strength and conditioning development of the athletes;
- Has the primary responsibility of evaluation of student-athletes and prospective student-athletes;
- Monitor, evaluates, and maintains a safe and healthy environment for the student-athlete.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field;
- Considerable NCAA Division I coaching experience;
- Strong knowledge of the sport, including rules, strategies, and techniques;
- Knowledge and understanding of Atlantic 10, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Rules and Regulations;
- Effective organizational and time-management skills;
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to motivate and inspire players to achieve their full potential;
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
