Description
The Head Coach will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the athletic program and team, fostering an appreciation for physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The role includes designing training and game programs, organizing and managing the coaching staff, and ensuring the program is implemented in alignment with MIAA guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise programs and teams.
- Help students achieve gains in athletic skills and team performance.
- Design a training program and game program.
- Organize and supervise the coaching staff to ensure the program is implemented correctly.
- Train assistant coaches in techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategies.
- Call meetings with coaching staff periodically and consistently throughout the sports season.
- Develop team rules, communicate them to the players and their parents, and equitably enforce them.
- Ensure that student-athletes meet eligibility rules.
- Ensure that physical evaluation and permission forms are correctly completed and filed in the Athletic Director's office.
- Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience or strong knowledge of the sport is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR Certified.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Ability to react to change productively and manage multiple responsibilities.
