Description
The Head Coach must demonstrate strong leadership in player and staff development, integrity, sportsmanship and character development. Coach should possess strong communication and organizational skills. They must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the skills and strategies of their sport as it pertains to the policies of New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all coaches in the program are certified, licensed and cleared by CCSD Human Resources department.
- Ensures that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed.
- Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts for the program.
- Inform school athletic director and participants of the final selections.
- Maintain the integrity of the selection process.
- Consult with the school athletic director and provide information regarding any off-season training programs (including scheduling dates for summer camps, coaches clinic schedule), rules for season (two-a-day practices, scrimmages, try-out schedule criteria, etc.)
- Works with the school athletic director in preparing practice and game or competition schedules.
- Submit athletic rosters to the school athletic director one week before the first game or competition.
- Maintain necessary records and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all athletes have valid sports physical examinations before they are allowed to practice.
Qualifications:
- BA degree.
- Valid New Mexico Teaching License.
- Coaching certification.
- Previous high school coaching experience.
