Description
The Head Coach is responsible for all phases of the baseball program including recruitment of prospective student-athletes, game preparation and strategy, supervision of assistant coaches, scheduling, attending meetings with alumni and other public relations events, fiscal management, camps and clinics.
Responsibilities:
- Administer the baseball program in accordance with Savannah State University, University System of Georgia (USG), National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SIAC) requirements.
- Demonstrate sportsmanship and the highest level of personal integrity.
- Prepare and organize daily practice sessions and game preparation for competition.
- Organize and administer the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, Conference, and Savannah State University policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with academic services to promote and monitor the academic development, progress and graduation of student-athletes.
- Conduct the sport program so that each student-athlete is an integral part of the student body and his/her experience in athletics enhance their educational experience.
- Conduct the baseball program by always promoting an atmosphere of compliance with all NCAA, SIAC, institutional, and federal rules and regulations.
- Recommend and prepare the scheduling of all contests under the guidelines provided by budget, program scope, and all applicable departmental guidelines, rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from and accredited institution.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of progressive and successful coaching experience, at the collegiate level or exceptional equivalent (ex. Professional, post-secondary, etc.)
