Description
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, The coach is expected to provide an atmosphere in which all athletes are treated in a fair and equitable manner. The coach shall exercise appropriate leadership to ensure that the program has a positive and productive influence on the total educational experience of athletes. The coach must know his/her sport thoroughly, be familiar with current trends of the sport, have adequate skill background, and encourage wide student participation in the sport.
Responsibilities:

Contacting and communicating with the Principal, Athletic Director, and staff, etc. on a regular basis;

Completing pre and post season inventories of equipment and uniforms;

Assists head coach in running team practices; assists in teaching offensive and defensive concepts; oversees drills; provides group and one-on-one instruction; assists in player development; remains informed on student athlete's academic progress;

Attending pre and post season meetings as scheduled by the head coach and director of athletics;

Submitting rosters, medical forms, parent permission forms, practice schedules and scrimmages to the Athletic Director, assist in verifying student-athlete eligibility;

Monitoring athlete academic progress and attendance records;

Reporting scores and results to the athletic director;

Participating in awards and school recognition programs;
-
Supervising and assisting student-athletes in study hall;

Reporting unsafe practice or game facilities and providing locker room supervision before and after practice and games;

Establishing rules of conduct and sportsmanship for the team members and being sure all athletes are treated fairly and equitably, and are involved in the total school program.
Requirements:

Must have at least three years of coaching or playing experience in the respective sport;

Must have previous leadership experience with exceptional leadership abilities;

Must have experience with attention to detail, the ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize within a fast-paced rigorous environment;

Minimum age 21 years old and possess a high school diploma;

Must have a thorough knowledge of NFHS rules of the respective sport;
-
Must have skill background and be familiar with current trends related to the sport;

Completed or enrolled in the prevention and care of athletic injuries course;

Completion in the CPR and First Aid and the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) or eligible for such certification.
