Description
The Head Coach of Cross Country/Assistant Coach Track & Field reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for all aspects of managing a Division III women’s and men’s cross country program. The Head Coach must understand and promote the mission, goals, values and educational ideals of Brandeis University, as well as the mission of the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation.
Key Responsibilities:

Manages the student-athlete recruitment efforts for the women’s and men’s cross country programs including traveling to high school and club meets, evaluating prospective student-athletes, and generating applications to the University. Responsible for annually recruiting a diverse incoming class of cross country student-athletes that contribute to the continuing success of the team and the university community at large.

Directs the daily training and practice schedule to prepare student-athletes to compete in the sports of cross country and track and field. Responsible for planning all in-season practice sessions and developing an off-season training schedule and program (in coordination with Strength and Conditioning staff). Directs all coaching during home and away contests.

Provides appropriate and necessary guidance and advice to cross country/track and field student-athletes. Be familiar with the support services available at Brandeis University that can be utilized to assist students. Actively support the academic integrity of the University, keeping academics at the highest priority for the student-athlete. Communicate with the sports performance (athletic training/strength and conditioning) staff regarding student-athlete well-being.
Education & Work Experience:

B.A./B.S. required. M.A./M.S. preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of collegiate coaching experience required.
