Description
The Head Football Coach reports directly to the Athletics Director and directs a staff of six Assistant Football Coaches. The Head Coach is expected to lead a strong Division II program that recruits, trains, and supports student-athletes to compete at the highest level possible while also prioritizing the health, welfare, and academic success of the student athletes. The Head Coach is responsible for adherence to the policies, rules, and regulations of the NCAA, the GLVC, and the University.
Responsibilities:
- Creating and implementing a comprehensive strategy for elevating a successful football program, demonstrating excellence in recruiting, training, game preparation, and student-athlete support.
- Providing supervision and mentorship to assistant coaches, ensuring alignment with the program’s vision and goals.
- Identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes who can succeed academically, socially, and athletically; embody the university’s values; and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Establishing a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, athletic excellence, and sportsmanship.
- Collaborating with athletic department staff and other university personnel to manage budgets, scheduling, and compliance with NCAA, GLVC, and University policies and regulations.
- Fostering relationships with alumni, donors, the community, and friends to enhance all modes of support for the program, including financial.
Qualifications:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience coaching football at the collegiate level or higher.
- Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations, including regulations regarding recruiting and eligibility.
- Experience recruiting student-athletes with the ability to succeed on and off the field.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills with the ability to inspire and connect with student-athletes and assistant coaches.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
