Description
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Head Coach is responsible for the planning, organization, administration of all non-academic aspects of the intercollegiate athletic program, and adhering to the District Athletic Department Philosophy. The duties may be modified to meet the needs of the Athletic Department, College, and Program of Assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Assigned as Campus Security Authority ("CSA") as defined by the Clery Act. As a CSA, Head Coach will comply with NOCCCD policies on the reporting of crime statistics and related information to the official designated by the College for the purposes of Clery Act reporting. Responsible as defined by NOCCCD policies on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct, as a Responsible Employee, Head Coach shall report all incidents of sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment and sexual violence) and other inappropriate sexual conduct to the Campus and NOCCCD Title IX Coordinator or other appropriate designee as required by NOCCCD policy.
- Coaches and directs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Observes players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Determines game strategy based on the teams capabilities.
- Understands and agrees final medical decision regarding student-athlete participation in organized practices and/or competitions shall be made by the athletic training staff under the direction of team physician and consultation with team physician.
- Assigned to students as life coaches and to the academic athlete center to provide tutoring, mentoring advising, and general guidance to students for the purpose of academic and athletic success.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of District organization, operations, policies and objectives
- Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to assigned functional area of responsibility
- Knowledge of organization, policies, and procedures of assigned functional area of responsibility
- Knowledge of the policies and regulations related to accessing and processing confidential information and materials
- Experience as a head coach or assistant coach at the College or another level preferred.
- Certified to teach or coach in Wisconsin, U.S, or has completed "Coaches Not Licensed to Teach".
- Possess effective coaching and teaching techniques and skills
- Possess thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
- Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working and positive relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
