Description
Penn State Altoona Athletics is seeking candidates for the job of Head Men’s and Women’s Cross County Coach and future Track and Field * coach. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and operation of the College’s NCAA Division III varsity intercollegiate men’s and women’s Cross Country and Track and Field program, including all aspects of coaching, recruiting, budgeting, scheduling, fundraising and managing the intercollegiate program within the policies and principals of Penn State University and the NCAA.
The Coach will be responsible for:
- Compliance with University policies, state laws, including those pertaining to required clearances, conferences, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Oversight of the activities of assistant coaches, staff, boosters, and student athletes to verify compliance, with a mandate to self-report violations.
- Identifying , evaluating, recruiting, and retaining prospective student athletes.
- Coordinating practice planning, skill development and designing coaching strategies.
- Providing support for the coordination and execution of the athletic programs.
- Assisting with the supervision and training of athletic programming staff; developing employee manuals and implementing training programs and/or internships.
- Assisting with the implementation of marketing and advertising plans for programs; presenting materials for camps, clinics, public speaking, and/or special events .
- Adhering to general and program-specific safety policies, including the communication and enforcement of safety practices; maintaining certifications.
- Suggesting items for purchase in support of athletic programming.
- Ensuring proper use of sports-related equipment and reporting issues; assisting with equipment inventory and maintenance.
Education and Experience:
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties.
- A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to the three publicly available clearances of PA State Criminal, DHS Child Abuse, and FBI.
