Description
Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12 month, full-time position as Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and directs all aspects of coaching duties for the entire men’s and women’s program which includes the supervision of recruiting, training, coaching and retention of student-athletes in the program.
- Prepares the annual budget requests and exercises authority and approval for all expenditures related to the track and field and cross country programs.
- Develops an equivalent recruitment strategy and directs all recruiting activities, including selection of team members for both track and field and cross country programs.
- Facilitates the cultivation of alumni and friends for charitable giving thus enhancing the ability for the programs to meet established fundraising goals.
- Serves as the head coach for all track and field and cross country events, local, conference and national.
- Schedules and oversees all practice sessions and intercollegiate contests/meets in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Athletics and the Director of Athletic Facilities.
- Oversees selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment which includes uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensures that team travel arrangements are in compliance with University and conference rules and regulations, to include travel itineraries and coordination of travel plans through the Deputy Director of Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 5-7 years coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level program.
- Proven ability to successfully train Division I student-athletes.
- Commitment to integrity and working knowledge of NCAA rules.
- Annual First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Current driver’s license.
- Assertive, outgoing, hard-working and resourceful.
- Ability to design marketing materials; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop preferred.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
