Description
Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, recruit, develop, coach, and promote the operations of the Lake Superior State University Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement a student-athlete recruiting program that is consistent with institutional values, conference, and NCAA rules.
- Responsible for recommending to the Director of Athletics the awarding of athletic grant-in-aid in accordance with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules.
- Responsible for the development of players, team selection for game participation, and travel.
- Along with Sports Performance Staff, develop and manage agility, mobility, strength and conditioning programs.
- Responsible for notifying the Director of Athletics and Norris Center Manager in a timely fashion of practice schedule so that the administration of the facility can run in an orderly fashion.
- Responsible for recommending to the Director of Athletics a schedule that meets the institutional philosophy and that will be approved by the Faculty Athletics Representative or her/his designee.
- Responsible for travel arrangements and lodging for the teams, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
- Responsible for ensuring that academic scheduling is done through on-campus advisors and Athletics Compliance Director to meet the academic needs of the student–athletes and that the student-athlete scheduling meets eligibility and progress toward degree requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Experience as a head coach or two or more years experience as an assistant coach at the collegiate level or advanced instructional experience.
- Thorough knowledge of institutional, NCAA and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules, policies and regulations.
