Description
The Iowa Central Men's Basketball Head Coach is directly responsible for overall direction of the men’s basketball program. Involving recruiting, retaining members, assembling/developing a competent assistant coaching staff, and overall in-season/off-season strategies/programs.
Examples of Duties:
- Formulate a successful philosophy to promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student athlete.
- Manage and direct the basketball program.
- Coaches the basketball teams.
- Manages all aspects of the team including strength and conditioning, practicing, competing and scheduling.
- Evaluates and recruits qualified student athletes.
- Directs and supervises the assistant basketball coach.
- Responsible for basketball student athlete retention and roster management.
- Responsible for marketing the basketball program.
- Develop and adhere to the budget set forth for the program.
- Responsible for ordering of supplies and equipment and uniform purchases.
- Arrange travel for the team’s scrimmages and competitions during the season.
Qualifications:
- Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly, concisely, logically and coherently.
- Ability to be flexible and focused in a fluid work environment.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, clients and general public.
- Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise good judgement when making decisions.
- Possess strong human relation skills.
- Effectively recruit/retain quality students and athletes.
