Description
The Head Coach is expected to exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior in the execution of the duties and responsibilities of the position consistent with the mission and integrity of the institution, conference, and NCAA.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, supervision, and coordination of all aspects of administering and coaching a Division I Men’s Golf program in compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
- Coordinates practice planning, match preparation, athletic conditioning; develops a competitive schedule; provides leadership for practice and match strategies.
- Manages Men’s Golf coaching staff.
- Directs recruitment and retention of student athletes.
- Organizes travel arrangements for practice, match and/or events and required documentation for the staff and team members including expense reports.
- Adheres to NCAA, Loyola University, and conference affiliation rules and regulations and responsible for maintaining a culture of compliance as evidenced by actions of staff members in the program.
- Works closely with Academic Support and Student Development units, responsible for the overall success, performance, and conduct of the Men’s Golf program in the areas of academics, athletics and student athlete conduct, and the recruitment, growth and development of student athletes.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA and conference rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to sport.
- Demonstrated effective leadership, communication, organizational, interpersonal, public relations and fundraising skills, and the ability to be aligned with the mission & identify of a Jesuit institution.
- Demonstrated experience with the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment and the ability to recruit and retain academically qualified high caliber student-athletes with a strong commitment to the academic achievement of student-athletes
- Strong teaching and coaching skills with proven ability to lead and manage staff; motivate student-athletes to maximize athletics performance and develop them scholastically and individually consistent with the higher education values of the university.
