Description
The Head Men’s Golf Coach at Cornerstone carries out their program to accomplish the objectives of the sport within the athletic department, WHAC, and NAIA rules and regulations, and the mission of Cornerstone as an evangelical Christian university. Primary responsibilities include ensuring that each student-athlete is provided with the knowledge and skills for the sport through routine practices, instruction, strength-building and similar activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carries out all aspects of the men’s golf program.
- Models commitment to Christian character and the Community Covenant standards in behavior and interactions with athletes
- Helps to set up team devotions and Bible Study opportunities.
- Arranges for participation in community service and supports mission trip opportunities.
- Supports academic growth and success of student athletes in the program.
- Prepares and conducts practices, coaching for knowledge and skill-building. Provides special training for individual golf team members as required.
- Leads, monitors and coordinates training and practice sessions, ensuring that all safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
- Plans and administers the off-season training program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Successful experience in coaching the specific sport.
- Success in a collegiate program as either an assistant or head coach preferred.
- Good organizational, communication and coordination skill essential.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and high pressure situations.
- Ability to recruit student-athletes with potential for academic and athletic success.
