Description
The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach is responsible for leading and managing the Men’s Lacrosse program, ensuring alignment with the College's values, the Department of Athletics, NAIA regulations, and conference standards. This role focuses on recruiting student-athletes, overseeing team operations, and fostering personal and athletic development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Executes all aspects of the Men’s Lacrosse program to achieve objectives aligned with the College, the Department of Athletics, and NAIA/conference regulations.
- Recruits and retains highly skilled NAIA student-athletes for the Men’s Lacrosse team.
- Develops, monitors, and manages the annual budget for the program.
- Ensures that student-athletes and assistant coaches adhere to college policies, Department of Athletics guidelines, NAIA regulations, and conference rules.
- Oversees the conduct and discipline of student-athletes.
- Develops and implements a marketing plan to enhance the visibility and support of the sport.
- Organizes and conducts team practices, including strength and conditioning sessions and competitive games.
- Counsels student-athletes on participation in the sport and personal development, focusing on academic and athletic success.
- Collaborates with Admissions and Financial Aid to recruit student-athletes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business, science or closely related field; Master’s preferred.
- Must have at least two (2) years of successful lacrosse coaching experience, preferably at the college/university level.
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level or equivalent with a proven track record of success.
- Must have a thorough understanding of NAIA regulations and guidelines.
- Proven ability to recruit skilled players for the respective sport.
- Ability to counsel student-athletes on personal conduct, academic performance, and athletic participation, with an emphasis on sportsmanship.
- Proficiency in preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports, particularly concerning budget-related data.
- Must be able to work flexible hours which may include early/late hours, occasional weekends, and the ability to travel.
