Description
Jackson College is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Soccer Coach for our Men's Soccer program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for selecting, recruiting, instructing, and monitoring student-athletes, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations set forth by the College, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Budgeting: Provide preliminary budget projections for the Men's Soccer program.
- Recruitment: Recruit prospective student-athletes aligned with Jackson College's enrollment targets, considering both athletic and academic performance. Submit recruit lists for grant approval.
- Scheduling: Prepare the team's schedule for games and other activities.
- Planning: Develop an annual on/off-season plan, setting goals for the program in areas such as athletics, academics, fund development, and community service.
- Supervision: Supervise assistant coaches, volunteers, and student-athletes, ensuring adherence to academic, practice, and game schedules. Promote sportsmanship and fair play.
- Logistics: Coordinate practice schedules and trips, manage team equipment including inventory, repair, and replacement.
- Compliance: Abide by all NJCAA and MCCAA standards, as well as administrative policies of the College and Athletic Department.
- Administrative Support: Support administrative policies regarding travel regulations, grants, purchasing, and credit card use.
- Image Building: Foster a positive image for the College and the Athletic Department.
- Academic Support: Promote and monitor student academic performance and community service. Make appropriate referrals for academic assistance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related fields.
- Experience: Three or more years of coaching experience required, preferably in a college setting. CPR/First Aid Certification required.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in word processing, scheduling, email, and spreadsheets.
- Language Skills: Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Mathematical Skills: Basic understanding of statistics.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve problems.
