Description
The Head Coach for Men’s Volleyball reports directly to the Director of Athletics & Recreation. The Head Coach’s purpose is to maintain and enhance the program’s success as a conference, regional and national contender and carry that success into the classroom and beyond. Furthermore, the position of the coach is to organize and facilitate all aspects of a competitive NAIA Volleyball program in a professional manner that will translate into a successful and fulfilling experience for all student-athletes who are associated with the program.
Essential Duties:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the appropriate training program for student-athletes engaged in the Men’s Volleyball program.
- Assess the equipment needs for the Volleyball program and implement plans for acquiring and issuance of equipment.
- Coordinate schedule information.
- Available to travel out of state for recruiting.
- Available on weekends.
- Availability to secure home games.
- Plan and implement travel for Volleyball games - securing transportation, per diem, entry fees, etc.
- Responsible for the inventory, maintenance, repair, safety, distribution, and disposal of all equipment.
- Assist in the implementation of camps and clinics.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting potential student-athletes.
Competencies/Skills:
- CPR, First aid certified.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create and support a work community that allows a diverse group of students, faculty and staff to grow and develop individually and collectively as part of a collegiate athletic program.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as needed.
- Competency in the use of biomechanics software programs as a tool to evaluate athlete’s skill level.
- Ability to organize and manage complex college record keeping function; prepare, maintain, and interpret statistical data with competency.
- Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
