Description
The job of a coach is to design and implement the program's activities following applicable rules and regulations related to the sport; oversee assistant coaches, student managers, and /or volunteers; provide supervision of student athletes during all aspects of the program; using sound instructional techniques in overseeing program activities; serving as a positive role model to student athletes.
Responsibilities:
- Realize and appreciate the need for the basketball program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department.
- Support and uphold the Bishop LeBlond mission.
- Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in basketball.
- Contribute to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are successfully competitive.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in basketball.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
- Ensures that all basketball coaches work together toward a common goal.
Requirements:
- Missouri State Teaching Certificate (preferred, but not required).
- Sports First Aid Training.
- CPR Training.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred, but not required.
