Head Coach – Women’s Basketball

Tidewater Community College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Women’s Basketball Head Coach. The ideal candidate will have a background in coaching, player development, and recruitment, with a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment. This position is responsible for the overall direction and administration of the college’s women’s basketball program.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program that aligns with the college’s mission and goals.
• Plan and conduct practices, training sessions, and games.
• Recruit and retain student-athletes who demonstrate both athletic and academic potential.
• Schedule practices and competitive matches.
• Manage the basketball program budget and resources effectively.
• Plan and manage team travel and equipment needs.
• Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal and social growth.
• Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations as outlined by the college, Region 10, and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
• Represent the college at conferences, meetings, and community events.

Qualifications:

• Experience coaching basketball at the collegiate or high school level or playing basketball at the collegiate level.
• Working knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student-athletes, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a 12 or 15-passenger van.
