Description
The Moses Lake School District is seeking candidates to fill the position of head track and field coach for the track and field team. Moses Lake Middle School’s participate in the NCW Middle School League. The district is committed to the development of useful, life-long skills in its student athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively carry out the duties of the track and field program as established by the Middle School Principal, Athletic Director and policies of the Moses Lake School District.
- Demonstrated technical track and field skills and successful experience in teaching these skills to secondary school student athletes.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, community and staff.
- Organizational skills needed to insure a well-managed program.
- Valid first Aid Card/CPR certification required.
- Must meet the age requirements of WIAA applicable to this position.
- Bilingual preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Continuous training standard requires that during any three-year period of coaching a minimum of 15 clock hours shall be completed by all high school coaches.
- Work within the basic framework and philosophy of the Moses Lake School District Athletics Department.
- Demonstrate knowledge of modern trends, techniques, strategies, playing rules and procedures.
- Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.
- Implement a safety plan that includes teaching of the proper techniques and fundamentals.
- Adhere to all safety rules.
- Have an emergency medical plan in place.
- Inform parents of individual players regarding attendance, discipline, and injury.
- Relate to staff members in a professional and effective manner.
- Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship with athletes, peers, and the public (particularly at sporting events).
- Motivate players.
- Keep players informed of available camps, weight programs, etc.
