Description
This position will require an individual to recruit, train, and provide guidance to members of the flag football team in a manner which promotes the academic, athletic, and social success of athletes and is consistent with the mission and goals of Cottey College. Additionally, the position performs tasks in all phases of the program including on-field coaching, overseeing the teams strength and conditioning program, and game management.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote and support Cottey College and its mission.
- Promote and support Cottey College athletic program mission and goals.
- Work atypical, yet flexible, business hours based on necessary presence at or reporting on sporting events conducted at night and on weekends and holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit potential team members to Cottey College.
- Retain current Cottey College students as team members through graduation.
- Ensure the program meets annual roster size expectations.
- Foster a high-quality culture within the flag football program promoting an emphasis on student success outcomes and general expectations of a collegiate athletic program.
- Provide an environment conducive to a high level of academic performance by team members.
- Promote the flag football program on a local, regional, and national level.
- Provide leadership in the planning and operation of the flag football program.
- Administer flag football program within the policies of Cottey College, NAIA, and the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, KCAC.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a external (field) or internal (gymnasium) work environment.
- Some physical effort required and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Very limited exposure to physical risk.
- Some travel required.
