Description
The Girls’ Volleyball Coach will oversee the entire Madison West Girls’ Volleyball Program and instruct the varsity high school volleyball team. They are responsible for helping each student-athlete gain success by reaching their full potential in the classroom and on the court.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee training of volleyball players in all positions in conjunction with the other coaches.
- Develop training plans for volleyball players in conjunction with the other coaches.
- Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home games as directed by the Director of Athletics and Operations.
- Contribute to game line-up planning with other coaches.
- Attend and coach at all practices.
- Attend and coach at all matches.
- Assist other coaches in monitoring team members’ practice attendance, school attendance, meet attendance and grades
- Assist other coaches in enforcing team policies.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an approved coach’s education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching if no teaching license.
- Competitive playing experience in volleyball at the high school level.
- Previous coaching experience with preference to coaches with prior successful experience as varsity head volleyball coach.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of contemporary volleyball systems.
- Commitment to year-around personnel skill enhancement and program improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to provide positive motivation and development of student-athletes including year-around monitoring of conduct and academic performance.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain open communication with coaching staff, student athletes, parents and age group volleyball coaches.
- Demonstrated knowledge about instructional progressions of volleyball techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze opponent tendencies and to design responsive strategies.
- Current certification in first aid, with preference for course work in sports-medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation and cooperation with team or family physicians.
