Description
Asheville High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Head Girls Wrestling Coach to lead and develop our high school wrestling program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive environment while promoting athletic and personal growth among student-athletes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive girls' wrestling program that aligns with the school’s athletic mission.
- Instruct athletes in the fundamentals, techniques, and strategies of wrestling.
- Plan and lead practices, conditioning programs, and skill development sessions.
- Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and academic achievement among student-athletes.
- Oversee coaching staff, assistant coaches, and volunteers within the program.
- Manage team selection, competition lineups, and in-season adjustments.
- Ensure adherence to all school, district, and state athletic association rules and policies.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration.
- Organize and participate in fundraising, community outreach, and program-building activities.
- Maintain and inventory wrestling equipment and uniforms.
Qualifications:
- Prior coaching experience in wrestling, preferably at the high school level.
- Knowledge of wrestling techniques, training methods, and safety protocols.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
- CPR/First Aid and coaching certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Compliance with all background check and school district requirements.
