The Head Coach for Men's and Women's NCAA Division II Golf is responsible for leading and managing both golf programs, ensuring a high level of competitive performance while fostering the academic and personal development of student-athletes. This position requires a dedicated and knowledgeable leader who can effectively balance coaching responsibilities with recruitment and program administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for both the men's and women's golf programs, focusing on skill development, competitive success, and team culture.
- Recruitment: Identify and recruit talented student athletes for both teams, ensuring they align with the institution’s academic standards and values.
- Coaching: Design and conduct practice sessions that enhance individual skills and team strategies, providing tailored instruction to meet the needs of each athlete.
- Tournament Preparation: Organize and prepare both teams for competitions, including course strategy, mental preparation, and post-tournament analysis.
- Student-Athlete Support: Mentor student-athletes academically and personally, promoting a balance between athletics and academics while fostering their overall development.
- Administrative Duties: Oversee budget management, scheduling of tournaments, compliance with NCAA regulations, and coordination of travel arrangements.
- Community Engagement: Actively represent both programs in campus and community events, building relationships with alumni, fans, and supporters to enhance program visibility.
- Collaboration: Work closely with athletic department staff, including sports medicine, academic advising, and other coaches, to create a supportive environment for all student-athletes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous coaching experience in golf, preferably at the collegiate level (NCAA, NAIA, or similar).
- Strong understanding of golf techniques, strategies, and rules, as well as NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and eligibility.
- Proven ability to identify and recruit talented student-athletes who meet academic and athletic standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor student-athletes, fostering their personal and athletic development.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, including budget management, scheduling, and logistics planning.
- Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
