Description
Johnson University’s Athletic Department is seeking a Head Men’s Basketball Coach. This coach manages the Johnson University men’s basketball program in a manner that reflects the values and mission of the department and University, serving as a role model and mentor to the student-athletes to reinforce the highest standards of conduct.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exemplify and teach sound spiritual growth alongside of athletic development.
- Monitor academic progress of the team and individual student-athletes.
- Mentor players through life, academic, and athletic challenges.
- Evaluate and recruit quality student-athletes who align with the mission of Johnson University.
- Supervise assistant coaches, including hiring, training, and evaluating assistant and student workers.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise practices and games.
- Develop and grow the skills of players through effective coaching.
- Manage the men’s basketball budget and report expenses for travel in a timely manner.
- Coordinate annual summer camps, recruitment trips, and on-campus recruitment events.
- Communicate and collaborate with departments across campus to ensure student-athlete success.
- Participate in fundraising events.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Two (2) years prior experience as a successful head or assistant coach at the collegiate level or as a head coach at the high school level is preferred.
- A suitable combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
