Description
The Head Men’s Soccer Coach (HC) will be responsible for facilitating the academic, athletic, and overall growth of every Men’s Soccer student-athlete. Additionally, the coach will work closely with the Athletic Director (AD) to continually assess and elevate the program’s status in the areas of academics, recruiting, budget tracking and reporting, fundraising, equipment ordering, marketing/public relations, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, departmental compliance, and alumni engagement.
Key Measurable Expectations:
- Plan, organize, and direct all activities involved with LCCC Men’s Soccer, including the development and maintenance of a positive and quality philosophy for all facets of the team to be carried out in competition, in the classroom, and within the community.
- Serve as a key recruiter of prospective student-athletes. The HC will work with the AD to generate college-approved letters of intent (agreements) with student-athletes. Recruiting may occur through, but not be limited to, attending in and out-of-state games and tournaments, developing relationships and making regular contacts with coaches, and conducting high school and home visits.
- Develop, monitor, and manage Men’s Soccer scholarship and program budgets.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate practices, games, personal and team travel in compliance with institutional (NJCAA and Region 24) policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the AD to develop strategies for the retention of student-athletes.
- Be familiar with and maintain understanding of rules and regulations of the NCJAA, and Region 24.
- Participate in public relation activities, including interviews with news outlets such as newspapers, radio, podcasting, streaming, social media, and television media as well as attending press conferences and making public appearances representing LC Athletics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in the development of student-athletes at a high school, collegiate, or professional level which may include assistant coaching experience.
- Experience in recruiting and the development of athletic programs.
- Experience with the development of academic aspirations for student-athletes.
- Must demonstrate the ability to meet and exceed the Standards & Timelines of the LC Athletics Team culture.
- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required for success in this role, in addition to normal courtesy and tact with the community in which the coach will be working. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature at times. Work may involve motivating or influencing others in a positive way.
- Ability to foster outside contacts and develop sound relations.
