Description
The Men’s & Women’s Cross Country coach organizes, conducts and supervises all aspects of a Division II Men’s & Women’s Cross Country teams, within the parameters designated by the University, Sunshine State Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Duties and Tasks:
- Organizing, recruitment/evaluation of student-athletes.
- Conducting and supervising practices and player conditioning.
- Preparing for and implementing tournament and course strategies.
- Providing appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress and personal.
- Development of student-athletes within the men’s & women’s cross country teams.
- Creating a positive and productive environment for the student-athletes.
- Oversee administrative functions within the programs.
- Participating in conference and NCAA meetings.
- Adhering to all conference and NCAA rules/requirements relevant to the conduct of the programs.
- Preparing information relevant to budgeting, equipment needs, and program concerns.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of coaching tactics and techniques
- Ability to motivate student-athletes.
- Strong Leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize practice plans, recruiting and match management.
- Demonstrated ability to use computer programs.
- Ability to recruit student athletes.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Well developed interpersonal communication skills to deal with recruits and their parents.
