To lead the Physical Education Department across the whole school, ensuring a high-quality curriculum offer for 3 to18 year olds. To collaborate with colleagues on the development of a contemporary, international PE curriculum which ensures great outcomes for all, supported by technology and strong teaching practice. To lead a vibrant, supportive department that inspires students to foster a love of the subject and becomes a model of good practice within the collaborative culture of the school.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a modern, international department who create a culture of high-quality learning and teaching of PE
- Have a vision and experience of curriculum development and model practice of PE learning for 3-18 year olds.
- Set high expectations for the PE department, including Health and Safety policy and practice.
- Promote excellence, equality, collaboration and high expectations for students.
- Represent the school’s values in every interaction with students, parents and colleagues.
- Actively and enthusiastically contribute beyond the classroom in the wider context of the school community.
- Act as an advocate for the school in the wider community.
- Be an active member of the BIS Houston Leaders of Learning team.
Personal Specifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Teaching Qualification PGCE/QTS etc.
- Minimum 2 years leadership experience in a school.
- Experience of teaching Early Years, Primary and Secondary PE.
- Strong proficiency with technology.
- Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
- Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
